What is this place?
Tate Modern is a free national gallery of modern and contemporary art on Bankside. It is entirely accessible through lifts and ramps (step-free West Entrance), with fully accessible toilets on every floor and a Changing Places toilet on Level 0 of the Natalie Bell Building — equipped with full-room ceiling-hoist coverage and a height-adjustable changing bench (distinct from the ordinary accessible toilets). There are two quiet rooms (Level 4 and Level 2 of the Natalie Bell Building), described as spaces for neurodiverse people, families or anyone wanting quiet time, with armchairs and coffee tables. Ear defenders can be borrowed from the ticket desks and colour overlays are available, and a full visual story is published to help families prepare. For temporary exhibitions, Tate Modern runs Relaxed Hours on the third Tuesday of the month, 10:00–11:00 — a quieter time with limited numbers, open to disabled and neurodivergent visitors and anyone with sensory needs, plus families and carers. This is a currently-running programme: the ‘Frida: The Making of an Icon’ exhibition (25 June 2026 – 3 January 2027) lists Relaxed Hours on its page. We keep the recurrence on this profile, but only add individually published, verified relaxed-hour dates to What’s On — we do not generate the third-Tuesday dates ourselves.
